A Creation Story

The following writing portfolio contains pieces ranging from music reviews and opinion pieces to poetry and both non-fiction and fiction essays. The writer holds self-expression as the key component of the human experience. In other words, the means are of less importance than the simple act itself. So, warble that song, pitchy notes and all. Engage the sleepy pinial gland with each stroke of the paintbrush against its canvas. Broken guitar strings and blistered fingers are of no consequence to an artist whose heart was left on stage.

reflections on a week of anxious attachement.

You break my heart on a Saturday and I go to church on Sunday for the first time in seven years. A newborn child in the light of the Father, spreading my arms unabashedly towards forgiveness and acceptance, begging.

“Breathe me in for we are one and teach me to love myself!”

On Monday, I go to class in the morning. I cry in the bathroom seven times in three hours. Lunch is cold pizza and milk. Monday night brings bottles, brown and white.

Review: “The Suburbs” — Cousin Ches

One of my favorite Portuguese words is saudade. When translated into English, the nearest word is “longing.” This, however, fails to fully encapsulate saudade, which is actually an unusual combination of nostalgia, heartbreak, melancholy, and of course, longing.
